I joined the Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management (ISOM) department of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School as an assistant professor in 2017. I completed my Ph.D. in the Decision, Risk, and Operations division of Columbia Business School under the supervision of Mark Broadie and Assaf Zeevi. Previously, I received B.S. in industrial engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and M.S. in operations research from Columbia University.
My research area is broadly in (a) pricing and revenue management, (b) information sharing and supply chain management, (c) machine learning and sequential decision making, and (d) business and sports analytics. I’m particularly interested in operational strategies in e-commerce where the presence of online product reviews offers significant opportunities to improve revenue through a wide range of techniques including dynamic pricing and supply chain contracts.
